  1. Margaret,

I’m very sad about Mary’s passing. She was an a very dear and inspiring loving friend and prayer partner. Thank you so much for posting this as I was out of town for the last few weeks and could not be at the funeral. Offering up prayers for you and the whole family for the comfort of God.
    In His Love,
    Lillian

  2. Hi Margaret,
I tried several times to find Mary’s funeral service on the Moody website, so I was glad to get this link. I just viewed the service, and it was such a tribute to Mary and to the Lord. Even in her death, her legacy and points of light continue as the gospel was made so clear to those who were there. May the Lord honor her life even more so by discovering in eternity those who were saved at her funeral. And may the Lord protect and prosper each of her children and grandchildren to imitate their mother and grandmother and carry her spirit forward.
The granddaughter who sang so beautifully struck me as an old soul, wise beyond her years, and Mary in miniature. Your snowman story was wonderful and it was good to see you, though I am sorry for the occasion from your standpoint.
I just read your folding sheets story in your most recent posting, and I remembered a post about changing the sheets after Nate died, a paralyzing moment of feeling completely alone, and I remember you pressed through that by flipping them. It reminded me of how hard you worked to grieve well, and now you have been called upon to take up that labor again.
I don’t know if you ever saw The Shawshank Redemption, it is one of my favorite movies. After years of being in prison together, the character Andy escapes while his friend, Red, remained behind bars. And Red, played by Morgan Freeman, says this:
“I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.”
I think of this as I think of you carrying on, knowing and rejoicing that Mary is free, but facing the empty place she now leaves behind. And so it is my prayer that the Lord will fill you up, that His goodness and mercy will follow right at your heels all the days of your life, and that He will surprise you with joy in the midst of your deepest moments of felt loss.
    You are remembered and loved,
    Terry

  3. BTW Thank you for sharing the snowman story! I loved it! It was fabulous! So much of the funeral service was quite comforting. I pictured Mary in each of the eulogies. What a blessing to have been a friend of hers.
